Hi All,
When I did the Aconcagua Talk in March someone (I think John Ellison) asked if when they got to the summit it would have been flyable if they had taken their gear with them. I have finally found out the answer from Steve Dean one of the pilots who made it to the summit. He said ............. "yep, it was bang on". However it was virtually nil wind (very unusual for that mountain) and trying to run like hell to forward launch at that altitude after climbing the thing would have been pretty much impossible. He also said that the summit area is like a flat plateau with massive vertical drops surrounding it, no slopes so if you messed up your launch it would be end of story. Hope this answers the question, I know it really surprised me, I thought he would say it was well blown out!
