Joint Coaching Day - 24th March 2012
This is a formal reminder that a Joint Coaching Day (with the CSC) will be held on the 24th March at the Eagle and Child, Staveley, Nr Kendal. It will run from a 9:30 start until around 4pm. We may finish earlier if the weather is flyable or groundhandling possible, so bring your wing if attending. The day is being run in conjuction with the Cumbria Soaring Club (CSC) with Dave Ashcroft and myself leading the day. We will be assisted by Rick Livingston doing an initial 'ice-breaker' session to find out where people feel they are now and Kerim Jesperson talking about all aspects of producing better video productions. This is to meet the needs of those now using small action cams.
The day is aimed at post school to first XC flights; essentially the newer pilot. We aim to cover a simple introduction to our respective flying areas and Clubs, then go through many aspects of Planning, Preparation, Practice and Performance. We will put this into the context of things that lead up to a days flying (equipment, weather, choosing a site) to those things that involve flying the day (decision making, setting targets, flying etiquette, safety etc) and finally post flight analysis techiques. Guidance will also lead up to those first XC flights and the addiction that follows. This is just a brief synopsis of the day.
