DHPC Social & X-Dales 2022

This is being held in tandem with the X-Dales '22 Hike and Fly event that Ed is running.

Communal fire, BBQ, lots to do and flying related practice if not actually flyable! Harness hangers. Get yourselves there!

Easy walk into Settle, with shops, supermarkets, take aways pubs etc etc, all the Dales on your doorstep and right on the bank of the Ribble. Huge landing field and masses of kudos if you manage to fly into it!

Lodge Yard Rally Field, Langcliffe, Settle, North Yorks.
GE 54.07964, -2.28002

9th to 11th September 2022 (although you're welcome to stay from the Monday or Tuesday)

Essential Info

Cost Fixed first night £15 per van/tent, then £5 a night thereafter – payable to Tam. Tam is in a caravan just as you enter the site with a big windsock to mark his spot.
Toilets Newly built toilet block with showers open this year.
Dogs These are welcome as long as they don't bark all night and you clean up after them.
Campervans These are welcome, but you should not expect an electric hook-up. Electric hook ups are only situated on the east side of the field (and are dependant on seasonal vans not using them).
Camping space There's plenty of this on the main field. Camping / landing areas will be clearly marked and explained on arrival.
Fires There will be a big communal fire in the evening. You're welcome to make your own, but please keep it OFF the ground either on stone or bricks or on legs. This is a pasture after all. Please bring firewood and your own seating!
Food Totally up to you, either bring it or go to Settle and buy it or go to one of the many good pubs / take aways in Settle.
Drink See above
Entertainment There will be a communal tent, of indeterminate size. We hope to have a folk band booked for one or two of the weekend evenings. Bring your own instrument or story also.
Insurance Although the DHPC have a hand in this meeting, they’re not responsible for you, your family, your belongings or your flying decisions. Any public liability or property issues should be referred to your insurer.
Flying Ed is running the X Dales Hike and Fly competition, jointly hosted at the social field. You can register with him at https://www.xcflight.com/x-dales-22-challenge/ or email him on Turn on JavaScript!

If flyable we will have some form of informal competition. A coaching day / coaching activities  will be organised. Hopefully some will be able to land in the field. We may also try groundhandling races in the landing field etc.
Radio The DHPC radio frequency is 143.850
Litter This is not Leeds Fest. Please tidy up after yourselves and take all your rubbish home
Noise No loud noise after 10pm please, there will be other users there.
