Site Briefing Days - February 2020

During February the club will be running a number of site briefing days for new (and not so new) members.  The idea is to bring to life the information already contained in the sites' guide: parking, route up, take-off, landing, hazards.  For a novice, on a new site, it’s one less thing to worry about.

We’ve deliberately organised it in February to minimise the chances of getting distracted by actual flying.  In the unlikely event that it does look flyable then the organiser will make a call the night before.  The big advantage of fixed dates is that you can plan your other commitments accordingly.  Each tour will take place on a different day so that you can, at least in theory, attend as many as you want to.

The tours are as follows:

Ed Cleasby/Chris Kay - (Date TBC)
Non DHPC sites in the Ingleton area

Pete Logan/Pete Darwood - Sat 8 Feb 20
Windbank
Hawkswick
Cow Close Fell
Great Whernside
Kilnsey and Kettlewell

Simon Tomlinson - Sun 9 Feb 20
Brant Side
Whernside
Ingleborough

Martin Baxter - Sat 15 Feb
Tailbridge
Stags Fell
Semer Water
Wether Fell
Dodd Fell

Pete Balmforth - Sun 16 Feb 20
Nont Sarahs
Pule Hill

Each organiser will publish a meeting point and time, and come up with a proposed route.  You’ll be relieved to know that you won’t be expected to walk to the top and bottom of every hill – daylight is limited at this time of year; and plans will remain flexible to accommodate individual requests.  The one stipulation is that you must register with the group leader beforehand using whatever social media he stipulates.  If less than 3 pilots register then the day will probably be canned.
